MILDRED HARNACK FISH

Wisconsin born Mildred Harnack-Fish was a part of the German resistance against the Nazi's. She was the only U.S. citzen executed specifically due to Hitler's command. She came to Berlin with her husband as it was his native country (he was killed months before her for his role in the resistance). She taught American literature and was translating Goethe's poetry up to the day of her death.
